What happens to old microblading
Microblading places pigment in fine, shallow strokes — which is why it looks so natural at first, and why it ages so unpredictably. As the strokes blur and the pigment breaks down, many brows drift gray, ashy blue, or salmon-red, and touch-up layers often deepen the problem instead of solving it.
Removal, not another cover-up
A cover-up answers old pigment with more pigment. Removal takes the opposite path: our non-laser method progressively lifts the old microblading out of the skin, session by session, so what remains is your own brow — not a correction stacked on a correction. Because microblading sits relatively shallow, it often responds well to this approach, though pigment type, depth and skin response always set the pace.

- Can microblading be removed without laser?
- Yes. Microblading pigment can be lifted progressively without laser, over sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, while leaving the natural brow hair in place. Because microblading is implanted in fine, shallow strokes, it often responds well to non-laser removal — though aged strokes that have blurred or shifted colour still take several sessions to lift.
- How much does microblading removal cost near San Jose?
- Removal sessions typically run $280–$380 each at Aileen's Beauty in Campbell, about fifteen minutes from downtown San Jose. A $100 deposit secures the appointment and is credited toward the session. The number of sessions depends on how saturated the strokes are, how deep the pigment sits, and whether the brows have been covered up or worked on more than once.
- Why did my microblading turn grey, blue or red?
- Microblading changes colour because the warm tones in cosmetic pigment break down faster than the base tones underneath. As the warmth leaves, what remains reads grey, blue or reddish — it is normal pigment behaviour, not something you did wrong. Those cool-toned leftovers are among the most common cases this studio treats, and the case archive documents several of them.
- Can I get new brows after removal?
- Usually yes, once the skin has fully healed and you and your artist agree the canvas is ready. Many clients remove enough of the old work to allow better microblading or powder brows afterward, rather than removing everything. Some decide they prefer their natural brows and stop. Both are legitimate outcomes and neither is upsold here.
- Do you serve clients from San Jose?
