However it was labelled, it is all cosmetic tattoo pigment in skin — and it all ages: styles change, pigment shifts colour, shapes that once flattered start to fight the face. Our studio specializes in removing unwanted permanent makeup from the brow area, whatever technique put it there.
Layered work needs a careful hand
Many of the brows we see carry more than one generation of work — an original tattoo, a cover-up, a colour correction on top. Layered pigment behaves differently from a single application: density varies across the brow, colours separate as they break down, and the true picture only reveals itself as upper layers lift. This is why we assess individually, work progressively, and reassess after every healed session.
Why permanent makeup stops looking permanent
Cosmetic pigment is a recipe, not a single colour, and the ingredients do not fade at the same rate. Warm tones typically break down first, which is why so many brows drift toward grey, blue or reddish casts as they age — the warmth left, and what was underneath stayed. Depth plays its own trick: particles sitting deeper in the skin can read blue-grey through the tissue above them, the same optical effect that makes veins look blue. A brow that “turned” a colour may not have changed chemistry at all. Add a decade of style change on top, and pigment that once looked current can read dated even when it healed perfectly.
What the process actually asks of you
Removal asks for patience more than anything else. Sessions are spaced four to six weeks apart, and that interval is not padding — the lifting continues while the skin renews, and the true remaining density is only visible once healing completes. Assessing at week three measures inflammation, not outcome. Each appointment runs about two hours in a private room, one guest at a time, and ends at a stopping point decided before it began. Between sessions you will hear from Aileen four times, because the weeks when nothing appears to be happening are exactly when most people assume it has not worked.

We don’t remove body tattoos, and we don’t make medical claims. We do one thing with full attention: non-laser removal of unwanted permanent makeup in the brow area, done honestly — real client photography, realistic timelines, and results the work can stand behind.

- Can permanent makeup be removed?
- Yes. Unwanted permanent makeup in the brow area can be lifted progressively without laser, over sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Microblading, powder brows, ombré, nano strokes and combination work are all cosmetic tattoo pigment in skin, and all of them respond to removal — though how quickly depends on the pigment used, how deep it was implanted, and how many layers are present.
- How much does permanent makeup removal cost?
- Sessions typically run $280–$380 each at Aileen's Beauty in Campbell, priced by the density, depth and history of your brows. A $100 deposit secures the appointment and is credited toward that session. The total number of sessions is estimated individually after your brows are assessed rather than quoted as a fixed package.
- What if my brows have been covered up more than once?
- Layered work is common and it is treatable, but it needs different expectations. Each cover-up added pigment on top of pigment, often at different depths and in different formulas, so removal reveals the older work as the newer layer lifts. Your brows may look more uneven partway through the course before they improve. We map the layers at consultation and tell you this before you book, not when it happens.
- Do I have to remove all of it?
- No, and many clients do not. Partial lightening is a legitimate goal — enough to soften a shape, correct a colour, or prepare the canvas for better work later. Removal is not automatically an all-or-nothing decision, and choosing to stop partway is a valid outcome rather than an unfinished one.
- Do you remove body tattoos or eyeliner and lip tattoos?
- This studio specializes in the brow area only. Body tattoos are not treated here. For permanent eyeliner or lip pigment, ask during consultation — those areas carry different considerations and are assessed case by case rather than offered as a standard service.
